The 7-1/4 x 10-1/2 inch, 120 page hardcover photo book was written by Gau-propagandaleiter Sudetenland Franz Höller and published 1939 by the Sude-tendeutsches Hilfswerk in Reichenberg. The book looks similar in style as the Prof. Heinrich Hoffmann photo books, an introduction and a small text chapter in the front and the rest of the book is all photos. The book is about the German minority (about 300,000 people) in the Sude-tenland, located in Czechoslovakia, their fight for freedom and desire to become part of the German Reich. The SdP (Sudetendeutsche Partei) was the right wing political party of the Germans in the Sudetenland, they fought side by side with the National Socialist students organization. In September 1938 the German minority declared its independence from Czechoslovakia and asked the Nazi German government for protection. This was granted by Hitler and the German Wehrmacht marched into the Sudetenland which then was renamed Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren (Bohemia and Mora-via). The Protektorat became well known especially because of one of the three Reichsprotektors (Reich governor): SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich. He was in office from September 29, 1941 to June 4, 1942. He died from the injuries caused by an assassination. He was preceded by Konstantin von Neurath and succeeded by Kurt Daluege. A very interesting book with excellent photographs in very good condition.
