The 6-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch, 148 page hardcover book was published by the Auerbach Kinder-Kalender Verlag in Leipzig. It was first published in 1881 by Dr. August Berthold Auerbach, later Chief editor Adolf Holz took over. What made the "Auerbach" so popular among boys and girls was that they were encou-raged to write letters to the publisher. The best letters then were printed in the next volume. The 1942 Kinderkalender is the third war issue and therefor full of information on war duties of Hitler Youth and BdM! The first pages contain a detailed calendarium for the year 1942, other parts of the book contain adventure stories, educational stories and tales, etc. The binding is not very tight but there are no lose or missing pages.
