This hard to find 5 x 7-1/2 inches soft cover book with 96 extremely interesting and heavily illustrated pages was published by the High Command of the Wehrmacht in 1942. It's purpose was to explain the different branches in the Luftwaffe mainly to Hitler Youth boys who would become the next generation of pilots, ground personnel, etc. All branches are of course explained in a very attractive way, making it sound like it was still "fun" to be a pilot or paratrooper in 1942! These are the branches which are explained:
- why become a volunteer in the Luftwaffe? - the flying personnel - the technical personnel (mechanics, etc.) - Luftwaffe Officer ranks - How to apply, conditions, training, pay, etc. - engineers in the Luftwaffe - Luftwaffe medics - Fallschirmjäger - Fallschirmschützen - Flakartillerie - Luftnachrichtentruppe (LW signal corps). An excellent reference for anyone interested in Hermann Göring’s Luftwaffe!
