LOT OF TWO RARE ORIGINAL THIRD REICH PASSPORTS

ISSUED TO A GERMAN JEWISH COUPLE WITH A VERY INTERESTING STORY!

Reisepass #10 was issued to Helene Sara Hirsch, wife of Otto Hirsch in Ulm/Donau on 26 April 1941. Helene was a housewife and she was born in Munich. The big letter "J" right away identified her and her husband as Jews. Nazi racial laws made it mandatory that every Jewish female had to take on the middle name Sara and every Jewish male the middle name Israel. In Otto Hirsch's passport the middle name Israel was added after-wards by a Police official (see photo on the right).

The many entries in both passports are identical. Both were allowed to travel and they did several trips to Spain. The very interesting documents have many entries that show how much money they changed to Spanish currency as the Deutsche Bank in Ulm. On their last trip in 1941(!) the couple traveled to Spain and crossed the border into Portugal where they must have went on a ship to the United States of America.

ISSUED TO A GERMAN JEWISH COUPLE WITH A VERY INTERESTING STORY!

This extremely interesting set of Nazi German passports belonged to a couple from Ulm/Donau that managed to immigrate to the United States of America in 1941, a time when it was already very difficult for Jews to leave the country. Both documents are filled with entries and stamps and both are in excellent condition.

Reisepass #210 was issued to Otto Israel Hirsch, husband of Helene Hirsch in Ulm/Donau on 8 May 1938. Otto was a salesman, born in Ulm. The big letter "J" in his passport instantly identified him as a Jew as well.

Otto and Helene traveled by Lufthansa to Barcelona, Spain. To travel by airplane was not as common in 1941 as it is today, the couple obviously had enough money which has, surprisingly, not yet been confiscated by the Nazis.

The last entries in both passports are the perhaps the ones that saved the lives of these two German Jews: immigration stamps of the American Consulate #11194 and #11195 dated 13 May 1941 and the embossed seal of the American Consulate in Stuttgart, Germany (see photos above and left)! Only a small percentage of Jews in German occupied Europe or the German Reich itself were still lucky to leave like that in 1941! Very historic material! This set of documents should be in a museum or important collection of historic anti-Semitic Third Reich material! This lot should remain together but we will be willing to split it and sell each document individually.
