the weakness of this rare book is the back, most of the copies we have seen had a damaged or repaired back, just like the copy that is offered for sale. There is no damage on the inside, all full color photos are as crisp as they were 65+ years ago when this book was published.

RARE ORIGINAL 1943 NAZI FULL COLOR PHOTO BOOK ON ERWIN ROMMEL AND THE GERMAN AFRIKAKORPS BALKENKREUZ üBER WÜSTENSAND (BEAM CROSS ON DESERT SAND) PROBABLY THE BEST THIRD REICH BOOK ON THE NORTH AFRICA CAMPAIGN WITH EXCELLENT FULL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS! This extremely interesting 8-1/4 x 10-1/4 inch, 160-pages hardcover book was published by a Luftwaffe propaganda unit that was attached to the famous Afrikakorps. The book was printed 1943 by the Stalling Verlag in Oldenburg, Germany - a publisher well known for their high quality books. The book contains 100 Afrikakorps photos, most of them in full color and many in full page and even double page size!! Balkenkreuz über Wüstensand together with Helden der Wüste are definitely the best original Third Reich Afrikakorps photo books with full color photos! The book gives a lot of information about almost the entire Africa campaign from 1941 to 1943, including the daily life of the German soldiers in the North African desert. The foreword is written by the DESERT FOX himself, Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. An excellent addition to every collection of historical DAK, World War Two or Third Reich material!
