200mm / 7-5/8 inches tall Glas Pitcher

This extremely hard to find beautiful item was created from the well known German designer Bruno Mauder in 1937 for the Nazi program “Schönheit der Arbeit” in the Deutsche Arbeitsfront. The “Schönheit der Arbeit” had the goal to create better working conditions for the workers in the factories of the German Reich, there were many revolutionary things achieved from the Nazis in the 1930s which included not only better work places but also better living conditions for the workers, also the workers freetime was very well organized through the K.D.F. (Kraft durch Freude or strenght through Joy) with organized vacations throughout the whole German Reich including even cruise ship trips to foreign places like Norway or Madeira! The main intention of all this was a very clever thinking: a happy worker at a nice work place who had a great vacation for little money to recover from his work gets way more done! And also many things of every day use received a new design through the “Schönheit der Arbeit” program under the umbrella of Albert Speer which was in most cases simple and easy to make in mass production but which was also beautiful - like this rare glass pitcher!

The total height of this scarce DAF pitcher is 7-5/8 inches or 200mm, the width including the solid glass handle is 7 inches or 178mm, the top opening is 4-1/2 inches or 114mm in diameter. The item has absolutely no chips or cracks and only a few very tiny, almost invisible scratches which should be regarded normal for a glass pitcher which is 67 years old, surviving the worst war the world has ever seen! If you see photos of the German Reich from 1945 it is hard to believe that this item survived without a scratch!
