The book was a gift to the Meister der Gendarmerie (Nazi Police Officer) Alois Gerhard as a remembrance for the the work he had achieved in the Generalgouvernement together with his Police comrades, Gendarmerie-Postenführer and Bezirks-Leutnant der Gendarmerie Wichem and Gendarmerie-Zugführer and Bezirks-Oberleutnant der Gendarmerie Flinn, who both have signed on the first inner page!

The size of this excellent hard cover photo book is 8 x 11-1/2 inches with 236 pages and a lot of photos of occupied Poland which was overran from the German Forces in 1939. The German part of occupied Poland was since named "Generalgouvernement" (the other part was occupied from the Russians due to a secret treaty betweem Hitler and Stalin). The text tells a lot about the situation of the German minority in Poland prior the Blitzkrieg and also how neglected the country looked like until the Germans not only brought law and order but also farming and production skills with farmers and workers who migrated to the new "Lebensraum im Osten"! There are several chapters dealing about SS men protecting the new Aryan farmers as well as anti-semitic stories on Polish Jews! The book was written from Bruno Hans Hirche and printed 1941 from the Verlag "Deutscher Osten" in Warschau, (former)Poland. It is in very good condition.
