Offered for sale is ONE OF THE RAREST ANTI-JEWISH NAZI BOOKS FOR CHILDREN PUBLISHED IN HITLER-GERMANY DER GIFTPILZ (THE TOADSTOOL OR POISONOUS MUSHROOM) PUBLISHED 1938 BY JULIUS STREICHERS STÜRMERVERLAG IN NÜRNBERG AN EXTREMELY RARE ITEM OF HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION This book is one of three books for kids that were publishedby Julius Streicher's Stürmerverlag in Nürnberg. The extremely anti-semitic tales are written by Ernst Hiemer and the illustrations are by Philip Rupprecht, better known as the Stürmer cartoonist FIPS. The titles of the other two Stürmer kids books were "Trau keinem Fuchs" (Trust No Fox) and "Der Pudelmopsdackelpinscher" (an arrangement of dog names) and they are also offered for sale on this web site. Each of the three books were aimed especially at children and each of the books contains short stories for children together with an anti-Jewish illustration telling them how to recognize a Jew, his criminal and mean nature and so on. The title itself is self-explanatory and in the story in the book it tells about a poisonous mushroom:" Just as it is often hard to tell a toadstool from an edible mushroom it is often very difficult to recognize the Jew as a swindler and criminal, too..." Other illustrated stories in this book show the kids how to tell a Jew: "the Jewish nose is bent, it looks like the number six..." or how an ugly Jew tries to make two Aryan kids follow him home, alluring them with candy, another one is about how Jews torment animals, how it slowly dies and the Jews stand around it and laugh and so on! The book is in very good condition. used but well preserved. It comes from a private collection ( NOT Ex library ). The original cloth cover shows a little wear on its spine. The fragile colored cover picture has some discoloration at the top but is otherwise undamaged. Very good inner condition. The leaves are bright and clean. They are firm and flexible and don't suffer from any amount of wear. The binding as a whole is firm and tight. The only imperfection is a minor damage between the rear cover and last (empty) page. The colors of the illustrations are as bright as if the book was printed yesterday and not 70+ years ago!
"It is just as difficult to recognize the edible mushrooms among the poisonous ones as it is to recognize the Jews who are all criminals..."
How to recognize a Jew: "The Jewish Nose Looks like the number six..."
"The Jewish Tailor"
Aryan Inge's visit to a Jewish doctor turned out to be her worst nightmare: "two criminal eyes flashed behind the glasses and the fat lips grinned..."
"Money is the God of the Jews"
"He who battles the Jews fights against the devil!" |
