Offered for sale is the very hard to find
original 1943 Third Reich photo book Helden der Wüste (heroes of the desert) in very good condition. This extremely interesting original Nazi book has been recently reprinted but original Third Reich copies of this excellent book are very rare today! The book was written from Hanns Gert Freiherr von Esebeck and it is full of wonderful Afrikakorps photos, a lot of them even in full color!! Most of the photos were taken from the author himself, the rest are from the Nazi war correspondents Hans Ertl and Willi Sturm. There is a little damage at the back which can be easily repaired. Helden der Wüste together with Balkenkreuz über Wüstensand is definitely the best original Third Reich photo book with full color photos ever printed before 1945! Original copies of either one of these books are on the wish list of many collectors of memorabilia of Erwin Rommels Afrikakorps! The size of this rarity in hard cover is 6 x 8-1/2 inches with 238 pages. It is in very good condition. The book gives a lot of information about almost the entire Africa campaign from 1941 to 1943, extremely well illustrated with a lot of photos, about half of them full page photos in FULL COLOR! The foreword is written from the DESERT FOX himself, Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. |
