This 6 x 8-1/4 inches soft cover book with 176 pages was the official book where the leader of the Jungenschaft, the smallest unit in the Deutsches Jungvolk kept record of the HJ "platoon" activities. The Dienstbuch which is offered here belonged to the Jungenschaft 1/2/51. The Jungenschaft 1/2/51 belonged to the Jungzug 2 which again was part of the Fähnlein 44. Fähnlein 44 belonged to the Stamm XI in the Jungbann 324 of the Gebiet (area) 22. At age 10 the German boy entered the Deutsches Jungvolk, he was sworn in on April 20th, Adolf Hitler's birthday and was assigned to Jungzug 4. Once eleven years old he switched to Jungzug 3, then to Jungzug 2 (12 years old) and Jungzug 1 (13 years old) before he was integrated in the HJ (Hitler Youth) in the Schar 4, again on April 20th! The Hitler Youth had the same structure like the Jungvolk only that it was called Schar instead of Jungzug. Every year the boy moved into another Schar untill he was 17 years old and member of Schar 1. This is when his time in the Hitler Youth ended and on a September 1st he went either into one of the Nazi Party organizations (SA, SS, NSKK, NSRK, NSFK), into the Reichsarbeitsdienst (Reichs Labor Service or RAD) or he went into the Wehrmacht.

It is very interesting how well the Jungvolk and Hitler Youth was organized. This book here was used from the leader of the Jungenschaft to keep track of the members of the Jungenschaft, how many show up to each meeting, what has been done in those meetings, etc. There are lots of pages which have entries, some are blank. The book, which gives a very good in-depth view of the structure of the Hitler Youth, is in very good condition and will make an important addition to anyones collection of HJ material!
