This series of booklets was published by order of the High Command of the Nazi army (Oberkommando des Heeres). Each of the 6 x 9 inches soft cover booklets with about 40 pages describes the life and heroic acts of one German soldier who received one of the highest German awards in World War Two: the Ritterkreuz (Knights Cross). The next level was the Eichenlaub zum Ritterkreuz (Knights Cross with Oak leaves) and this is what Leutnant Hein, the soldier described in this booklet received from the hands of Adolf Hitler in the Reichschancellery for his braveries at the Eastern front! The item is in very good condition, the only imperfection is a small piece missing at the bottom of the back.
