UNALTERED ID-DOCUMENT FROM A GUARD

AT MITTELBAU DORA CONCENTRATION CAMP

This Wehrpass was issued February 26, 1938 to Georg Fruehauf in Chemnitz, Germany. He was assigned to secure the conquered territories in the East (perhaps in an auxiliary Police unit?) before he was transferred to the Waffen-SS. Nice 2nd (Wartime) issue Waffen SS Zweitschrift Wehrpass to Concentration Camp guard Georg August Fruhauf. Guard at KZ Buchen-wald, then Mittelbau Dora the Nordhausen V2 Rocket Plant. Fruhauf served in WW1, then has a lot of previous unit service from 1939 to 1945 in WW2. Entries from 26.08.39, including various Bau then Field Marsch-Kompanies, mainly 493, then possibly he was wounded as he was trans-ferred to a Convalescence Unit. He was then transferred to be a KZ Guard at Buchenwald in September 1944, then to SS T-Stuba “Mittelbau” in October 1944. Promoted to Feldwebel in Sept. 40. Awarded the Iron Cross Second Class, Wound badge in Black and 2 other awards. Pass fully filled in with his units and assignments. Civilian photo. Heer overstamped with large ‘SS’ runes in box on Cover. A very rare historic document in Exc. Cond.

Georg was transfered to the SS-Totenkopf-Sturmbann at Buchenwald con-centration camp in September 1944 and from October 1944 on he served in the SS-Totenkopfsturmbann at Mittelbau concentration camp.

Mittelbau Dora concentration camp near Nordhausen had underground facilities where inmates produced the V1 and V2 rockets.
