UNALTERED ID-DOCUMENT FROM A GUARD AT MITTELBAU DORA CONCENTRATION CAMP

This very interesting historical document was issued November 27, 1939 to Paul Lehmann in Luckau, Germany. He served in two different Luftwaffe units before he was transferred to the Waffen-SS in September 1944. He was assigned to the 4.SS-Totenkopfsturmbann that guarded the inmates of Mittel-bau concentration camp where in the late stages of the war V1 and V2 rockets were produced by KL inmates. First (Pre-war) pattern Waffen SS Wehrpass to Concentration Camp guard Obergefreiter Paul Lehmann. This document is in very good condition with a photo in civilian clothes on page 2. Lehmann served with 1/LW Baubatl. 11/III from 1940 - 44, then Fliegerhorstkompanie Kolleda (a town in the district of Sömmerda, in Thuringia, Germany) to Aug 44, then to 4. SS-T- Stuba “Mittelbau” He was promoted to Gefreiter in November 1943. He was awarded what looks like an Honour Shield with Certificate in 1941. Comes with 3 other typed documents, one an overall evaluation of him, two (Beurteilung – or efficiency reports, one looks like details of a cooks course and the other a report on how he performed) and one of which looks like an acknowledgement that he has signed the official secrets act (or equivalent).

Mittelbau Dora concentration camp near Nordhausen had underground facilities where inmates produced the V1 and V2 rockets.
