This original 6 x 8-1/4 inches soft cover book has 258 extremely interesting pages. It was published 1938 by the Statistisches Amt der Reichshauptstadt Berlin (Chamber of Statistics of the Reichs Capital Berlin) and contains literally everything which was going on in Berlin in 1937. The book starts with geographical conditions, water levels, etc. and continues with a very interesting chapter of the development of the city since the 14th century. Chapter III is on the population of Berlin, how many marriages, born babies and how many people died in this year. Chapter IV is on real estate and new construction, chapter V is on public buildings, roads, bridges, etc., chapter VI deals about farming, chapter VII about markets and how much meat was eaten. Chapter VIII pages is on pricing and living costs, chapter IX is on trades, X and XI are on finances and wages, XII on social services, XIII is on employment and unemployment, XIV is about the traffic in the Reichshauptstadt, XV is on the school and education system, XVI is a very interesting chapter on the different religions in the capital. I.e. there were still 150,000 Jews in Berlin in 1937 who had 16 synagogues and 576 Jewish marriages. The remaining chapters are on health care and social welfare, Police and finances, taxes, community utilities, etc.
