In the late 1920s the silent movie was replaced by the (more or less accurate) synchro-nized sound movie. By 1936 sound movies were standard worldwide. The National Socialists realized very early the propaganda potential of radio, movies and, since March 1935, television. This 7 x 9-3/4 inch, 104-pages hardcover book by Otto Grube, published 1934 by Reimar Hobbing Verlag in Berlin contains excellent full page photos that were taken from UfA Wochenschau movies. The Wochenschau was a weekly documentary film which contained filmed news stories and items of topical interest. The Wochenschau was regularly released in a public presentation place and was a source of news, current and entertainment for millions of moviegoers until television supplanted its role in the 1950s.
