there are straps on the front and the two sides to keep the rare box shut and waterproof. No parts are missing or damaged.

The 18 x 12-1/2 x 10 inch "backpack" is a completely waterproof carrier that was used mainly by signal corps units of the U.S. Army during World War Two. It has two straps to carry it on the back and three straps to close it. The interior rubber liner extends 12 inches and is rolled up before the lid is closed to make the box waterproof at the top. A seldom seen piece of equipment in excellent condition!
a remnant of the original quartermaster(?) tag still hangs from the back, the item looks like it is either NOS (New Old Stock) or it saw only little use
